Hotel for one night near Rome Fiumicino Airport

Hi,
I have a 7am flight Monday morning Dec 14 from Rome to Paris. Any recommendations for hotels near the airport? Thanks.

I second Steve's suggestion, which is exactly what I do when spending my last night in Rome. I would definitely want to spend my last night in Rome surrounded by the sights rather than couped up in a hotel room with no place to go, eating hotel food. Spend your last night in the city and have your hotel arrange for a car to take you to the airport early in the morning (40 Euro).

My family & I just got back Thanksgiving weekend & had the same challenge .... except our flight left at 6:30 a.m.! I booked a Hilton Rome Airport room through Priceline for a reasonable $194 (all fees & taxes included). This hotel has a long elevated passageway right from the airport terminals. So after taking the train from central Rome to the airport at the end of our week in Rome, we walked to the Hilton only to find that there are TWO Hilton airport hotels! One is called the Hilton Rome Airport hotel: this is the one with a long passageway to the terminals, but it is a direct walk with no shuttle bus needed. The other is called the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport. This hotel is five kilometers away, and a shuttle is needed to go anywhere. We found out on our arrival that we had inadvertantly booked the Garden Inn Hotel. We were a pretty dejected group waiting outside the hotel we thought we had booked while watching for the shuttle bus to show up. There is a happy ending to this story: The shuttle bus takes less than 10 minutes to go from the airport to the hotel. We estimated that the time it would take to walk the elevated passageway from the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel would be about the same as taking the shuttle from the Hilton Garden Inn. We reserved a spot on a 4:30 a.m. shuttle bus the morning of our departure and made it to the airport with no problem! The only confusion we had was that DaVinci airport in not in full swing so early in the morning so getting information for our check-in terminal was pretty limited. Posted signs are minimal. The shuttle dropped us off at terminal 3 and we had to walk to terminal 1 for check-in.... but we made it. Another benefit to the Garden Inn was the restaurant. We were prepared to be disappointed with our last meal in Rome, especially at an airport hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised by the seafood pasta & focaccia bread! The room for 3 adults is not especially large, but very adequate and it was clean & quiet.

we unfortunately did it the other way; stayed at the hotel about 3 miles from the airport. It was like leaving Italy a nite early; it was indistinguishable from any business-class hotel in the US. Next time I'd take the advice you've been offered and stay in Rome, even if it means a taxi ride to the airport.
