We have 1 night in varenna and we are thinking since we've found some great deals so far, that we might want to spend a little more in Varenna area (take the train next day for Lucerne). Any ideas beside albergo milano? Thanks for any help

I second the vote for Albergo Olivedo, right on the water at the ferry station, five minute walk down hill from the train station, really good food, great hosts.

Thanks so much for your reply. We were looking Albergo Milano, but the Olivedo is definitely on the list now.

Depending on your budget, you could also have a look at www.centrohotelslakecomo.com/royal_victoria_varenna/homepage.html. It's located on one side of the main Piazza, across from the Church.
Albergo Olivedo is also an excellent choice. Be sure to try Laura's Ravioli. Having a fine meal on the outside patio and watching the Ferry traffic come and go is one of my favourite activities in Varenna.
