Have tentative reservations at both for Sept 30th for 3 nights. Will arrive from MXP around noon and take train to Varenna. If staying at Hotel Florence will need to take ferry to Bellagio. The Hotel Florence room is a lake view with shared terrace. The Albergo !ilan room is in Casa Rosa lakefront with balcony. Not sure which is the better choice, hotel wise and town wise! Please advise!

I prefer Varenna. Albergo Milano has nice views, but have not stayed there. Only dined at the restaurant below. I think you will be pleased with either of these selections though. Both cities have their charms.

Cancel both and go stay in Lezzeno. Stay here.
Palazzo Del Vice Re, Lezzeno
You’ll not regret it. A little piece of quiet paradise with easy access to Bellagiio and Else by bus or boat.
Train to Como, taxi to Lezzeno. Easiest way. Bus from Como probably also an option but not as expensive or exciting.

Had a short visit to Varenna a few years ago, and stayed at Albergo Milano and it was wonderful. Highly recommended.
