hotel flora Venice - mattress hard as a rock?

Dear travel friends I have yet to meet,

This forum has reflected many glowing recommendations of Hotel Flora in Venice.

Yet, an extremely reliable and well traveled young couple I know reported to me that they hardly slept during their stay at this hotel, because the mattress felt like "plywood and springs". Being young, they didn't share their problem with the staff and so suffered through.

I don't want to sabotage my scheduled trip with Sleeplessness.

Has anyone else had the uncomfortable bed experience at hotel flora? and was it satisfactorily resolved?

Thank you

J

Do you mean the Hotel Flora in Stresa? If so, I don’t remember the bed at all. Which I think means that the bed was fine. I stayed there for two nights this past September.

I haven’t stayed there but I checked TripAdvisor and booking.com reviews and they all said the beds were comfortable. Maybe it comes down to what one person thinks is comfortable vs another person’s idea of comfortable.

There are numerous Hotel Flora's in Italy. Could you tell us which one you are referring to?

We stayed with our friends at Hotel Flora in Venice in May. The bed was fine. It is a lovely hotel in a good location.

Probably right on that. I looked at reviews on booking.com and they go both ways. There were some comments about beds too hard or just uncomfortable and there were comments about the beds being very comfortable. So it boils down to what feels hard to one person may be perfectly ok for another. I, for one, prefer a hard bed and find most hotel beds too soft for my liking, although I usuually sleep okay.

It may also be that some rooms have older mattresses than others or just some rooms have harder mattresses than others.

One comment I read said that they complained about the bed and were moved to another room and that bed was okay.
