Hotel Due Torri

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Due Torri in Rome recently? If so, are the alley ways safe at night? Public transportation easy to get near the hotel? Did barking dog keep you awake? Additional comments pro and con?

Any other Rome lodging you would recommend?

Thank You,

Kathy-

We stayed at Hotel Due Torri in August and had no problems. We were out until midnight or 1 AM most nights and never felt unsafe in the area. It is about 5 minutes from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, but the immediate area is very quiet. Being able to wander around at night was one of the highlights of Rome for us. The extra cost of staying in this area is well worth it.

The downside is that public transportation is not as convenient as in some other neighborhoods. We walked to most places directly or walked to the Spagna metro stop (about 10 minutes walking, a few more with luggage). Walking to the Vatican took about 15-20 minutes depending on where you are going. It’s about 30 minutes to walk to the Colosseum/Forum area and about the same if you take a walk to Spagna and then take the metro from there. It’s also a cheap cab ride from Villa Borghese (about 10 euros).

We did not hear a barking dog, nor were we bothered by the auto shop, but we were in a room with a terrace on the top floor. Both of us would be happy to stay there again, but I think that I would stay in a room without a terrace. The terrace rooms are considerably smaller than the doubles on the lower floors.

We found that reception here was particularly helpful. If you have more specific questions, please feel free to send me a personal message.

We stayed there last year in March. Like other comment place is very quiet. Bus stops were located around the corner from hotel, about 1 min walk and Metro stop about 10-15 min walk. We felt safe walking at night around the area. Staff was helpful in pointing us in the right direction to wherever we wanted to go. Breakfast items included: cold cereals, juices, coffee, fruits, breads, hard boiled eggs. I would stay there again.

We spent four nights there last May. Loved the location and the alley way area was very quiet. Breakfast is very good--eggs, yogurt, fruit, toast. etc. The hotel seems to have lots of British guests. Our room was nice size with good bathroom. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff. There was a safe within the snacks/drinks bar which we used. Husband left out my emerald & diamond ring by mistake and when we returned the maid had found it and left it on a bedside table. We so much appreciated her honesty that husband asked the desk clerk which maid cleaned our room and he gave her a very nice tip--she was reluctant to take it but he insisted--ring would have been impossible to replace and is a piece of jewelry that I treasure. I don't think you will find such honesty in many hotels.
