Tried using the search function here, but came up empty. Any experience with this hotel? Is the location within walking distance to the museums and galleries? It looks lovely and has good reviews elsewhere, but I really value your opinions! Thank you.

No personal experience yet, but I plan to stay there next time we are in Firenze based on the recommendation of a colleague. She raved about it! It is in the Oltrarno, across the Arno from the center, but I believe it is only about a 20-minute walk to Piazza della Signoria. There is also good bus servi. ce

It's a very nice hotel, and the hotels around there are my recommendation for those who have a car in Florence. It's also close to where I went to high school, so I know the area well.
Whether one could consider it walking distance from the sights depends on what you consider walking distance. It's not a two minute walk. It will take you about 30 min to walk to the Duomo. From there I usually bike, and it's a perfect biking distance to the city center. Just around the corner there is the bus stop. The bus no. 23 is very frequent (every 3 to 5 min), and there are also other buses, including the electric minibus which stops on Piazza Ferrucci. There is also a taxi stand.

I recently stayed in the same area (Hotel Silla). As Roberto noted, it's a good location if you will have a car as it's not in the 24 hour ZTL, it was the main rteason I stayed in that area. My hotel was perhaps 10 minutes closer to the old center, and considering that, the walking times they list on the web page you provided seem to be reasonably accurate.

Thank you for the information. This area sounds like a good fit for us....we enjoy walking, so 30 min is not a problem. We will be taking a few day trips from Florence, so I assume we can easily take a bus to and from the train station on those days, and perhaps a taxi upon arrival and departure, even though we plan on packing light! :)

Cortezzo-no laughing, now-but we will be in Firenze September, 2016. I am a planner. I enjoy the research almost as much as the visit! ;). Will be anxious to hear your findings! Have a wonderful trip!
