I have gone on trip-advisor and read in the RS's book and this hotel has received some good reviews (considering the incredibly low price of 80 Euros in Florence!). Anyone who's stayed there- your thoughts? Any other affordable places to stay in Florence?
We stayed at a 2BR apartment right by the Duomo in October for about €100 per night. Check out www.rentalsflorence.com. Found her through Paula Frommer's Italy book and were very satisfied.
We have reservations for Soggiorno Alessandra in Florence for 75 Euros/night. Double bed-private bathroom-although w/ our own key across the hall. Supposed to be almost right next to Uffuzi Gallery. It's in RS's book also and good reviews on TripAdvisor.
Hi Ryan-
This last September I stayed in Florence at Hotel il Bargellino and loved it. I stayed in a single for 45 euro a night, and see in my RS Italy 2007 book that a double is only 75 euro a night (85 with private bath). The hotel was beautifully decorated (with statues and paintings, beautiful furniture pieces, etc), easy to find and conveniently located, and Pino is a super warm, friendly, Italian guy who's easy to talk to and happy to answer questions. I would highly recommend this hotel. I believe I've seen a lot of users post reviews for it on the "Feedback" section of the Graffiti Wall-you might want to check it out. (PS-they also booked my museum reservations; wherever you end up staying I suggest you have your hotel staff do that for you!). Good luck!
