Hotel cost

I'm this close to booking Hotel Sonya for 2 nights in late May for 104 euros a night. Is that a good rate? I think I've answered my own question but I'd like some feedback.
Thank you!

In Rome? Yes, a great rate! Does it have a bathroom? :-)

In the same area near the Central train station there are several budget hotels and I've stayed in the Sonya, Contilia, Aberdeen - I am a solo traveler and felt very safe walking around this area - day and night.
To answer your question I think the rate you quoted sounds good.

Thank you! I think I will book it. Although I just read about someone whose room was broken in to a couple of years ago and had everything stolen.

We routine stay in Sonya when in Rome. It is great hotel and that is a super rate because normally pay closer to 200 Euro. I have no idea about you last comment. Cite the source and maybe someone can determine if the report is creditable.

Hi Frank...the comment was in the Rick Steve's forum of Hotel Reviews..I did a search on Hotel Sonya and it came up. It seems so many people stay there and it's RS recommended so it must be good!

I stayed here on a Rick Steves tour. Is this a single room? If so I will tell you it may be pretty small and I have stayed in some smaaall single rooms, lol! The breakfast is very good! Very nice selection.

That URL IS odd because as OP points out the actual thread is about Hotel Sonya not Hotel Selene (which is nearby on the same street).

Be prepared for inexpensive single rooms to be very, very small, especially in large cities where costs per square foot are rather high. When buildings are turned into hotels and there's a bit of space left over that's really too small for a room, it gets turned into an economy single. Nothing wrong with small as long as you are prepared for it. I have had rooms where I struggled to find a convenient place on the floor to leave my small suitcase. And don't get me (or the rest of the forum) started on the size of the showers in Italian budget hotels!

The single room I had in a budget Trastevere hotel in 2015 was so small that when the hotel received the reservation from booking.com, it sent me an email warning about the size of the room (perhaps because I am an American). But I had done my due diligence by reading all the reviews on booking.com and already knew the hotel had a minute single room.
