Looking for a moderately priced hotel close to Rome Termini Station. Walking distance. Less than $150 a night. Thanks
We have used Best Western Plus Hotel Universo several times. Price will depend on your dates.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Aberdeen.
Did as Bob did; would do so again
We have stayed at Residenza Cellini twice. It is a 5 min. walk to Termini Station. Depending on your dates it could be much less than €150 per night. Our last visit was 4 years ago. It was September and we paid €200+ per night. That said, comfortable hotel, well appointed, small lift, moderate size room, immaculate, walking distance to restaurants, sights, ample delicious breakfast and 24 hour helpful staff.
We seldom pay $150 a night for any hotel. Whenever I'm looking for rooms in a specific area, I go to Google Maps and click on the hotels icon. Up pops hotels on the map with the price. And around Termini, there are many, many hotels.

I like Hotel Aberdeen as well.
There are DOZENS and DOZENS of hotels walking distance to Termini at that price range. Problem is there quality. Aberdeen is a Rick Steves recommended. Have also stayed in http://www.hotelsweethome.it with good luck.
Don't just dive into someplace that's cheap and close by or you may not enjoy your time in Rome at all..
My usual favourites in that area are Hotel Sonya or Hotel Aberdeen. If you're looking for really moderately priced, have a look at the Beehive Hostel - https://www.the-beehive.com/
Ken is spot on with the Beehive. While we have not stayed there, we have rented their apartments. Linda and Steve are great to work with and have vast amounts of knowledge for Rome and the surrounding area.
I share Tim's comments about hotels. There are many fine hotels in that price range in that general area.
Consider this before booking. The finite number of RS listed hotels coupled with the large number of RS readers and travelers actually creates an issue that is worth considering. Just as many tourist sites are victims of their own popularity, becoming more crowded and more difficult to visit, so are many of the RS recommended hotels and restaurants becoming victim to their popularity among a certain group--the RS readers.
I have stayed in a number of RS recommended places over the years and a disquieting number of them are filled with our fellow RS travelers. This results in enclaves of American tourists in hotels and restaurants, all carting the same guidebooks and having the same expectations. In other words, we leave home for foreign shores only to be clustered with and around American tourists. Make no mistake, I love America and my fellow Americans, but I often travel to experience something different, to be immersed into a culture unlike my own.
For this reason, I have found that booking rooms from other sources, like foreign hotel booking services, or using other resources like Rough Guides or Lonely Planet results in accommodations less likely to feel like an American reunion. I have found that resources like Google Maps and hotel websites are great places to get the feel for hotels and B&Bs which are used by Germans, French, or British travelers, resulting in a more "international" experience.
Don't be afraid to reach out on your own to discover your own little "hidden gem" which will be clean, cozy, and available for rent when some of the more popular places are booked up.
We stayed at the Hotel Diana, close to Termini, a few years ago. It was part of an all- inclusive cruise package and I was surprised at how nice it was. Great breakfast and for fair weather, a roof garden.
This past April we stayed at the Hotel XX Settembre on Via Del Macao. Less than 10 minute walk from Termini on a quiet side street off Via Cernaia. The whole place was sparkling clean, great breakfast included, very personable front desk staff and we paid about $80 US a night. On our next visit to Rome we will stay there again.
I’ve been staying at the Hotel Stella right by Termini since I found it in a Rick Steves guide 18 years ago. The location is so convenient and the price is very reasonable.
