Hotel choices in Venice

Hi, I have emailed several hotels that were recommended about our stay in August. In Venice. Hotel Ca'Dogaressa has emailed back and have space. I also am waiting to hear back from Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. I liked the photos.. Not really sure about location.
Has any one stayed at either of these?
thanks,
Ellyn

We haven't stayed at either one, but for location I would prefer Al Ponte Mocenigro. It is closer to the main sights but that area of Santa Croce is off the main tourist path.

We have stayed at both hotels. Ca Dogaressa twice in the Jr. Suite. It looks out over the Canarreggio Canal, which is great fun. Nice thing is that it's a quiet canal at night. Ca Dogaressa is a little easier (walk) to get to from the train station.
We found the neighborhood nice and liked it a lot. Last time we went to Venice we went to Al Ponte Mocenigo because we wanted to try a different neighborhood. Hotel was nice, bigger than Ca Dogaressa and the people were friendly, although the Ca Dogaressa people were the friendliest. We found a little restaurant across the canal from there that served great pizza. Lots of locals. I think that you would be happy with either hotel, but since we were there in the fall I wasn't paying attention to either hotel about air conditioning. you might want to check into that.

Have a great trip and let us know how it goes.

Today had very nice email from Hotel Campiello offering us a RS price. Thank you RS.. They will even allow us to stay just 2 nights.
