Hotel Bellittini in Florence

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Bellittini in Florence, and if so, what was your experience? We originally booked at Hotel Centrale at 156 euros per night, and then I heard about Bellittini, which offers a special for advance bookings that will only run us 187 euros for 2 nights! Since we don't plan to spend a great amount of time in our room, I was wondering if there is a huge difference in properties. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Terry

We have stayed twice at the Hotel Bellettini in Florence. I would very much recommend it. Good experience. Clean. Excellent location near train station but also close to the duomo.

I stayed at the Bellettini in December for 3 nights and LOVED it! We had this awesome quad room (one queen bed and 2 twins) up a teenie-weenie flight of stairs in the attic. The room was clean and HUGE! I loved the style of the furniture and the exposed beams in the ceiling. The beds were comfy too. We were only 2 people, but I guess they upgraded us since it was the low season and I had asked for a room with 2 beds. If by some chance you can afford to book the attic quad room, or need to, do so.....you can throw a rock at the Duomo and hit it out one of the windows.

All the staff we encountered were really nice and social. They spoke good English too, but will gladly teach you some Italian! One morning they drew me a smiley heart in my cappuccino. They also have a substantial (for Italian standards) breakfast bar. It's not amazing food, but there is more than a croissant and coffee - cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, juice, and some funky scrambled eggs.

Another thing I really appreciated was the FREE internet for guests. They have a laptop set up in the lobby you can get on and use.

The location can't be beat either. I was able to walk to everything I saw from the hotel. It's a short walk to the Santa Maria Novella train station as well.

The hotel can be a little difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for though. There's a small sign on the outside of the building and no obvious entrance, so it's easy to miss. You go in to this alcove area and there is an entrance to a gym, a flight of stairs, and an elevator. You have to buzz the elevator to access the hotel - the lobby is up a floor. It's a small elevator, fyi. But we fit two people and 2 medium suitcases in it - barely, LOL.
