Hotel Aberdeen, Rome

Hi, all. For the Rome portion of our upcoming (there through Easter Sunday so want to get this done ASAP) Italy trip we are considering the Aberdeen Hotel. It fits us for price, location, level of "upscale" and so on. We have seen good recommendations here. However, on good old Trip Adviser we noted more than one person stating that the Metro passing under created noise issues. I am unfortunately hyper-sensitive to bass noise and vibrations when trying to get to sleep.

Would any of our reviewers here care to comment on this? Do upper floors help?

Our tour stayed there at the end of the Venice/Florence/Rome tour and I don’t recall any complaints from our group. I had a room that backed onto the kitchen so breakfast preparations woke me up, but I’m an early riser so it didn’t bother me. It’s a good location, convenient to public transport, and easy walking distance to lots of things.

Afraid the TA reviewers are right about that, you can see it on the map. From Termini to Repubblica to Barberini is a straight line and the Aberdeen is pretty much a point on it.

FWIW, I was bothered by the Picadilly line passing under the Celtic in London when we were on the bottom floor one night, and I am aware of (though not by much) the Northern Line while on the 2nd floor of the Captain Bligh House.

I have stayed in the hotel Aberdeen and had no idea that the metro ran underneath it. No noise or vibration problems at all.

I've stayed at Hotel Aberdeen several times over the past 20 years. Some (not all) rooms do experience a very slight rumble from the Metro. The Metro doesn't operate between midnight and 6am, so it's not an issue during that window. Floor isn't a determinate. It's rooms towards the back of the hotel that are more effected. Rooms towards the front of the hotel (closer to Via Firenze) are less effected or not effected at all. For me, the slight Metro noise isn't an issue. I keep going back because of the nice rooms and fantastic staff.

Larry,

I don't recall noticing any Metro noise while staying at Hotel Aberdeen. Perhaps the noise is more pronounced in some rooms than others?

You could always pack some earplugs.

I have stayed at the hotel 3 separate times, never had a noise issue. I like the location, and would stay again.

I’ve stayed in 2 rooms in Hotel Aberdeen, (or one flight up from the reception.) One was near the front and one closer to the back. Both were on the 2nd floor. I didn’t hear any metro noise in either.
