Hotel Artemide or Boutique Hotel Campo de Fiori in Rome?

Traveling to Rome for the first time in November and am considering these two hotels, as they both seem to be very highly regarded. Does anyone have opinions on the neighborhoods, hotels, access to sights (walking), access to transit, etc.?

I've stayed at Hotel Campo de Fiori (Hotel CdF) twice, most recently in 2015, but have not stayed at Hotel Artemide. The location of Hotel CdF along with the rooftop lounge is what I enjoyed most. It's not directly on the Campo, but right around the corner, so noise was not an issue. The rooftop lounge is wonderful after a long day of walking! The rooms are quite small, but well appointed with all that I needed. Staff were very helpful with restaurant recommendations, directions and even loaned us an extra charger cable! Location can't be beat, lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance, laundry near by and access to transit. Enjoy your stay in Rome!

Personally I'd stay in the Campo dei Fiore. Just took a quick peek at both and this hotel has larger rooms, is less expensive, has the tram and taxi stands nearby and is IMO a nicer part of the city.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning that way as there's ~$60/night difference in the two.

I have not stayed at Campo di’ fiori, it was in the running, though, when we were choosing hotels. When we went to visit the Piazza, I wanted to see it. It really is right around the corner and looked as lovely on the outside as the pics. Very nice location.

You do have to cross a Main Street to go to some of the historic sites. I’d say you are 10 to 15 minutes away on foot...not far at all.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Campo de' Fiori in October 2010, and it was pricey (due to the Euro/dollar difference) & small but fine. Then, in March 2017, we had been looking for an apartment to stay for a week. Loved the area, and came upon Hotel Campo de' Fiori's apartments, listed on their website.

We took the smallest one--which was narrow but had plenty of room, a great bathroom, a galley kitchen, on the 2nd floor, and had daily maid service (fantastic!) for about 80 Euro/night, a real bargain in my book. And it overlooked the piazza, which in March never got too loud but was fun to be so close by.

I would investigate these apartments. Enjoy your planning!

Interesting.... so far most of the negative reviews for Campo de Fiori have been about the apartments, specifically about the noise late into the evening.

Also, it seems most of the negative reviews I've seen are 2013 or earlier, when it seems like they underwent a renovation.

When we were there, we stayed 2nd floor, windows open in late February/early March, and I can tell you there was more noise during the day at the market than there was at night.

Market starts at about 6AM when the vendors drag their carts over the cobblestone, which I definitely got used to and actually enjoyed, listening to their catcalls back and forth, sound reverberating off the buildings--very cool. Then it winds down around 4PM, the street sweepers clean it up, and then there's a wonderful lull til about 8PM, the dusk being when the musicians would come out and play. Then the young people come out socially til around 10-11PM. We were never bothered, and to get fresh air in we had the windows open all the time.

I can't imagine November--considered shoulder or off-season--would be that much different. June through September, I wouldn't stay there on a bet, however.
