Hotel/Apt 3 nights in Rome, 1 in Venice

Hello, All. Does anyone have a personal recommendation for 3 nights lodging in Rome, and one night in Venice for 4? One or two rooms is fine.

Rome - looking to be close to everything, as we have some bigger, and older folks

Venice - I have a place I like to stay, but just curious about others recommendations.
