We'll be in Rome for 11 days in October and are planning an overnight to see Assisi. We'd like to visit a winery in the area. Any recommendations? Also, where should we spend the night? Thanks!!

Montefalco wines are from Umbria. However, I don't think they are near Assisi. You may have to google search Umbrian wineries. There are quite a few hotels in Assisi. We liked the BNB - La Pallotta. Assisi is a pretty town after dark. Try to stay near piazza del commune. Assisi is small - so there aren't really any bad locations.

If you like to visit Assisi and a winery, you have to visit the Tili Vini Winery that it's the oldest and the founder of Assisi Doc wines.
It's an organic run-family farm and they organize tours and lunch tasting. For more info contact them at [email protected]
For the hotel, one of the beautiful is Nun or Giotto or Terrazza or Priori but if you search a family hotel I advertise Viole Country House.
