Hotel and restaurant recommendation for Assisi

Budget? Hotel Ristorante La Palotta (spelling could be wrong) is a nice B&B with a restaurant a short walk away.

And you can't beat the location.

Another vote for Hotel Pallotta. We spent five nights there in September 2013 and loved it. Owners Stefano and Serena are friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a charming common sitting room upstairs, accessible via a narrow spiral staircase. It provides a marvelous view in all four directions, and is a great place to share a plate of cheese and bottle of wine as the sun goes down.

Pallotta is centrally located, just steps to the east (uphill) from Piazza Comune. The restaurant is a block away, just south of the piazza. Photos here.

Hotel Pallotta is truly in a terrific location. I would also add Hotel La Rocca as a possibility. The restaurant for La Rocca, especially if you sit on the rooftop deck, is wonderful. The view up the valley north of Assisi is terrific.

If you are driving or taking public transportation, go to Piazza Matteotti parking garage, the hotel is a downhill stroll from there. So is the rest of Assisi, come to think of it. Anyway, easier to navigate with luggage.
