Hotel Ala Venice confusion

Hello All,

I am in the process of booking a three-night stay at Hotel Ala in Venice this coming September (a place recommended by multiple users of this forum), and am confused about something on their website. The problem is probably me, so I'd rather look foolish to my fellow Americans than with the hotel hosts.

The hotel's website says if you book direct, you can get breakfast for 5 Euros instead of 15. Is that only for a room that does not include breakfast? If so, can anyone tell me if there is a quality difference in the "no breakfast" and "breakfast included" rooms that would justify the price difference? If not, what are they talking about?

Thanks for being tolerant of my ignorance.

Best, Mark

It looks like if you use their site to book, breakfast is €5. If you book through booking .com or another site it will be €15 included in the room charge. Also appears that they may have a rate that excludes breakfast, but by the sounds of it, if you love a traditional breakfast, it’s the way to have a great one.Otherwise, you will search for an American style breakfast which is hard to find or will need to take the caffe/cornetto Italian breakfast (my preference!).

Why not email them about the best price they will give you - and that you want a 5E breakfast deal? Know the pricing from their website to compare.

This is what I find on the hotel site:

Not Refundable Rate - PAY NOW - BREAKFAST INCLUDED (6 Options)
From €204.18 per night
Flexible Rate - PAY 30 DAYS PRIOR - BREAKFAST INCLUDED (6 Options)
From €215.82 per night
Official Rate - BREAKFAST INCLUDED (6 Options)
From €226.98 per night
Official Rate - NO BREAKFAST (7 Options)
From €221.16 per night

There is a 5 euro difference in the 'official' rates. Other rate options include the breakfast. I see no way to get a 'no breakfast' rate on the 'other' options.

For the same dates booking.com looked to be the same cost.

Hotel Ala is my go to place in Venice. Have loved it for the last 12 years (except the pandemic years . . . damn). Definitely use their website to book rooms but also check for any 'deals' that might be listed there. The breakfast is amazing and might even get you through to dinner! Well, an early dinner. The ladies and gentlemen that I know from the front desk (and the housekeeping staff and the breakfast room staff) are beyond nice, helpful and encouraging. They remember their frequent guests and have always greeted me by name when I first walk through the doors. I had to laugh one year when they left a welcome message on the bathroom mirror!
