Hotel Aberdeen in Rome

If you have stayed there recently, what is your opinion of it? Would like to know the good and bad points. Many Thanks. TC

Stayed there over the holidays. I thought the hotel itself was a fabulous deal: room was decent-sized, modern and clean, breakfast was vast, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It is convenient to Termini, but I have to say I much prefer the Campo dei Fiori/Piazza Navona area to stay in.

If two years count, it is great. It is about a half mile walk from Termini up a small street. I don't think it has any cons. Target is a nice restaurants behind the hotel.

TC, I stayed in Hotel Aberdeen about a year ago, and found it to be very comfortable. I can't think of any "bad points". The room wasn't overly large, but that's typical of "singles" in many Hotels in Europe. The Shower was the standard 3 x 3 size, which is also typical of many Hotels in Italy that are located in older buildings. Hotel Aberdeen is located in a beautiful older building, which I believe used to be a Nobleman's residence. The entrance is inside a "Courtyard" (shared with another Hotel) and the door is locked at night so it's very safe. The breakfast was great and the staff were wonderful. Happy travels!

We stayed there in 2004. We had the SMALLEST hotel room that I have ever seen. Basically a bed that you could almost walk around. They tried to soften the blow by posting an article that said that it is the room that Rick stays in when he is there.

I was there 2 years ago. The singles are indeed very small. But the double I stayed in was reasonably spacious. Nice breakfast and quiet location.

Hate to be the dissenter re Hotel Aberdeen but we did not like it or the location. Beds were very hard, walls thin, bathroom dark and drab. We got a lot of noise from Via Nazionale and our room overlooked a vacant lot full of debris. The other RS hotel is better, the Oceania, but would never stay in that area again.

TC, If there's no availability at Hotel Aberdeen, you might also have a look at Hotel Sonya. It's also in the Termini area, and I found the rooms to be very comfortable (although again, the "singles" tend to be a bit "diminutive").

We stayed there in June of 2011. Room was clean, bathroom clean and OK size. View out the back window was a cluttered lot but we were not there to enjoy the view. Bed was firm but that's what we like ! Staff was very helpful & breakfast was tasty & substantial . We would stay there again :)
Centrally located.
