About ten minutes' walk from Piazza Maggiore (main square of Bologna) is the Nuovo Hotel del Porto www.nuovohoteldelporto.com, a single with breakfast was 46 euro in May 2012. They have a sister property that's a little pricier and a little closer to the main street of the old town, it should also be listed on the website, or you can ask about it.

Rick doesn't "do" Bologna. At this late date, you can try booking.com and venere.com to look at only those places that are available for your dates. You can trust their reviews to be accurate, as they can only be posted by people who made reservations through either of those sites. Happy travels. (And you're going to LOVE the food in Bologna.) I stayed at the Albrego Centrale very close to the main square. It was a good price and they have a very generous breakfast. I can't remember what I paid - but I would recommend the place.
Very easy to walk all around Bologna from the main square.

You could try the very popular and (usually) reasonable B&B Hotel Paradise located halfway between the railway station and Piazza Maggiore. http://www.hotelparadisebologna.it/index.php?template=Default&lang=eng You may find accom in short supply and more expensive because there are a couple of trade fairs on at that time. Accom prices can double or more at those times.
