Looking to soak in the waters. Anyone know where the free spots are. Rivers,Ponds, Pools etc are located.

Mike, Google the phrase "free hot springs in Italy". The site turismo.intoscana.it gives an excellent review of the various hot springs in Italy.

The only one I've been to is the bagni di petrolo.... MOST MEMORABLE experience in Italy :) I stayed in la Fattoria il Santo nearby (we used Grosetto for the large city/train station arrival) and had a car from there.... it smells HORRIBLE for the first few minutes, but its so fun :) But its definitely not convenient to anything of touristic importance that I can think of....though I haven't taken a big look at the map of the area...

Mike, You might try Bagno Vignoni in the beautiful Val d'Orcia area of Tuscany. As I recall, there's a hotel there with a great restaurant.
