Hostels for Adults in Rome, Florence and Venice

I am a 37 year old woman traveling alone and am looking to stay in nice, clean, safe hostels in central Rome, Venice and Florence. Totally open to the hostel experience, but don't really want the "party all night with the college kids" scene. Big fun, but have done that...years ago :)

I have started looking in Rome and, with the exception of the Beehive, have been reading conflicting reports on just about everything. Can anyone recommend hostels more catered to adults in these cities...especially Rome?

Thanks in advance,

Jen

We stayed at Lilliput hostel in Rome. It was small, quiet, and the owner was wonderful. She gave us maps and told us about great restaurants to check out. I think the rooms are 4 beds each, and it was maybe 20 euro a night max. It's just west of Termini and there are several restaurants and grocery stores around. No clubs or bars! :) We also got complimentary croissants and fruit for breakfast. The security is very good and it's in a beautiful old gated building.

I HIGHLY recommend Instituto Gould in Florence. It was GORGEOUS, cheap, safe, and friendly. In a quiet neighborhood just south of the river, about a 15 min. walk to the duomo. They have single rooms to quads - so it's not technially a hostel, even though they call it one. I think single rooms are about 40 euro. If this is in your price range though, it's a very nice place.

The Beehive is the BEST!!! It's not central Rome but the metro runs from the Termini train station which is just 2 blocks away. I stayed there for a week and absolutely loved the place (it's an art space also). It's very quiet, no young people making noise and staying up drinking all night (they don't permit it). I walked a few times from the Beehive to central Rome and it was a nice walk. Check it out, you will not be dissapointed.
