Is it still customary to bring your hotelier and tourguide hostess gifts? I was wondering since we're with a tour if it's even expected.

From my experience no. If you were staying with a local family or going to dinner in someones home the personally I would but not for a hotelier or tour guide. I would be very surprised if it was expected.

While it might be a nice gesture, ice-breaker and conversation starter...I agree that it is not generally expected...unless it is to a host Family as mentioned. And even then it's not expected but a nice gesture.
Gee, I like that Custom! I'm just thinking of all the gifts I could've been presented with! (Only joking, of course!)
