Hop on/ Hop off bus tours in Rome

Has anyone used any of the Hop on /Hop off bus tours to explore Rome? Are they a good value and reliable? Is one company better than others? We are taking our first trip to Italy and want to see as much as we can in our 3 days in Rome and don’t have much experience with European bus systems. Thanks for any suggestions ! Joyce

Bad idea, as the buses can't negotiate the downtown streets where most of the attractions are located.
