We are honeymooning in Italy and London at the end of May. We fly into Rome and will be in Italy for a week, flying out of Rome. I have been to Italy twice before, all Rome and north. My finacee has never been to Italy. What would be recommendations for a week spent in Italy?
If only you had a little more time, it would be nice to do a couple of day in Rome, then take the train to the Cinque Terre for a couple of days, then Florence for several days and Venice for a couple. There are Easyjet flights out of Venice direct to London which I found on skyscanner.net. Or maybe with only a week you could fly out of Florence (and not go to Venice) or out of Pisa.
Venice is popular as an Italian honeymoon destination, some think it's one of the most romantic places around.
Maybe a couple nights in Florence would be nice. There is so much to see in Rome itself you could spend a week but two nights and a full day in Florence would be a nice addition. Private message me for the name of a honeymoon worthy hotel in the city center of Florence if you are interested.
We spent our honeymoon in Italy and only had a little over a week. We spent four days in Rome and then took the high speed train to Naples, hired a private driver who took us to Pompeii and then to Positano. It was a good combo for us because we wanted to see all the history and have some time to relax, too. The Amalfi coast is beautiful.
Good luck to you.
It depends on your interests but I think Sorrento is so romantic and to see Pompeii, ferry to Capri for a day and another day ferry to Positano or perhaps send the night there is lovely. You can book these great balcony rooms with views to die. If you want it low-keyed try Orvieto an easy hour from Rome. I recommend the perfect location, best priced Magnolia (RS)You can add Ostia-Antica, the ancient port of Rome in lieu of Pompeii.
