Honeymoon Italy

Hello ! We are going on a 14 day tour of Italy for our honeymoon. We are flying in and out of Milan. Leaving June 10- returning June 24th. We had originally planned on going to lake como for first 2 days , then down to cinque terre by train, then drive to Florence, travel to Rome, then amalfi coast , then Venice then back to Milan . But it's too much for how long we are going and we want this to be more leisurely since it's our honeymoon. I'm looking to cut something out. Venice or Florence? Other suggestions

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! You couldn't have picked a more romantic place to spend your honeymoon!
Yes, this is a bit too much for two weeks. It's too bad you can't fly into Milan and out of Rome. If that is a possible change you can make then you will add extra time to your trip and not have to backtrack!
Your geographical outliers are Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast in my opinion. I would cut them out this time. I would do the itinerary this way...
Cinque Terre - 3 nights
Florence - 3 nights
Rome - 3 or 4 nights
Venice - 3 nights
Your one long travel day will be from Rome to Venice so you'll need to add a day to get there if this is the route you choose. You'll need to alter it for your arrival and departure times. Remember, for every two nights in a place you only have one full day. If you want to spend more time in any one place then just eliminate one from the list. I know it's tough to choose but quality over quantity when traveling is key to enjoying yourself!

Great choice to honeymoon in Italy! I agree with Anita, except I would switch Venice and Rome so you go from Florence to Venice, then down to Rome for the end of your trip. Honestly, I wouldn't bother with a car. In the cities they are more trouble than they are worth, and every place you have mentioned is very walkable, and has excellent public transportion. Florence is especially difficult for cars, since a good portion of the tourist area is restricted and you can get a VERY expensive ticket EVERY time you cross into it. Take a train or bus from CT to Florence, a bus to Siena for a day, a train up to Venice and a train to Rome. (Or you could do Venice after CT, then Florence and Rome.) Of course, you will want to pack very light for schlepping your stuff around like that!

Best wishes.

You'll want to spend your last night in Milan since you fly out of there.

14 days is not nearly enough time to get to everyplace on your list if you plan to relax at all. You are young, so plan to come back. Why not just focus on the northern areas of Italy? Lake Como, Venice, Florence, and Cinque Terre. Rome and the Amalfi coast have been around for a while, and will probably still be there the next time you go.

I agree with Angela, cut out Rome and the Amalfi Coast. I like the idea of adding Lake Como - or Verona (one of my faves) for 2 nights. Go straight from the airport to either. Then Venice, Florence, the CT and train from Monterosso to Milan for your last night. Makes a nice circle.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

If there was anything to cut out I would leave out the Amalfi coast. Its very similar to the Cinque Terre so you may find it a little redundant. You could probably get away with spending perhaps 2 days max in Florence and maybe half day in Milan at most. If you can allow at least 3-4 nights in Venice and 2-3 nights in the Cinque Terre, 2-3 nights in the Lakes area, 2 nights in Florence and 2-3 nights in Rome. On the low end this would give you maybe 2 extra days you could either add to Venice, Rome, or the Lakes area. Since trains go to all these places you wouldn't really need a car. But, if you were going to have a car you could get it just for the Tuscany area. If you wanted to cut something else out, perhaps just do a day trip to Florence from somewhere else. I hope this helps some.
