Honeymoon in Venice

Hello everyone!

My fiancé and I are trying to get our itinerary finalized for our Italy honeymoon this coming July. Everything is just very overwhelming to me. I've done some research but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the beginning of our trip in Venice.

Day 1 (Sunday)
We will arrive in Venice at 9:05am
I was going to purchase a 72 hour vapors tot pass on arrival
Check into our room,
Explore and just walk around St. Marks, grab lunch
Grand canal tour
St. marks Campanile
Dinner at St. Marks listening to the orchestra

Day 2 (Monday)
Out by 7am to see sunrise
Tour the Basilica
Lunch
Doges palace secret itinerary tour
Cachet to tour

Day 3 (Tuesday)
Possible day trip to Burano and Murano?
Gondola ride?

Leave for Florence early on Day 4

Any tips and specifics would be greatly appreciated. I really wanted to go see a performance at Fenice Opera but I'm not sure when to fit it in or if tickets would be available. It says online that there is a performance on that Monday "Luoghi Del Riposo" ? Is this worth seeing? Which tours/ sites should I buy tickets to ahead of time? My fiancé and I are pretty active people so we are not afraid of a challenge but would also like to enjoy the romantic scenery. We are not into art as much as architecture so museums can be limited.

Thank you so much for your time!!

Rachel

My spell check must not be working... I meant a 72 hour vaporetto pass on arrival and day 2 finish out with Cichetti tour with Alessandro

I would add Torcello to your Burano trip, beautiful church with mosaics and there are often weddings being celebrated at the basilica on the island. The whole island feels romantic to me.

For your dinner in Piazza San Marco, you might be happier just having a leisurely cocktail and then going to a restaurant that doesn't have that fishbowl feeling. Better food, too. Sometimes people dance in the piazza while the orchestras are playing - what a memory that would be!

Even if you don't catch a performance at La Fenice, the place is really interesting and beautiful just to tour.

Perfect place as it is so romantic and dreamy. Go on a gondola ride earlier in your trip. Tell the gondolier that you just got married. Ask to go under the Bridge of Sighs. Kiss.

Check if San Marco is open to tourists on Sunday.

Make time to get lost - that's the fun of Venice. Explore the San Polo area. I found a glass bead store with beautiful pendants and pre-drilled pieces. I suspect they may be made elsewhere but still a small reminder of your honeymoon. Found a restaurant "Il Pantalon" by accident. Off the beaten path and full of Italians. You could make your own discovery.

We attended Mass at the Basilica- the entrance is on the side. You can not wander the Cathedral or tour, but we did get to see the altar and experience it in a unique way. You must be willing to stay for the 1 hour service. We are Catholic so it was wonderful and fit nicely onto our paln- you do not wait in line for the tour.

Allow enough time to just wander and enjoy!

It may not be as romantic, but as you are active types, you might want to consider rowvenice.org

And definitely book secret itinerary tickets in advance from the official website, not from someone like viator.

We are also catholic so that would be a great experience! Is it worth it taking a day trip to Burano and Murano? What is the main attractions to see there?
Thank you so much your input is highly appreciated!!!
Also, what tickets should we get ahead of time?

Vaporetto passes are very expensive and only good value if you plan on taking 3 or more rides per day.
Vaporetto #2 does a 'circle' of the island as well as the Grand Canal.
Consolidate your 'St Mark's Day' ...
9am Campanile
11am Basilica
1pm Lunch
2pm Doge's Palace
5pm Gondola ride
7pm Dinner on St Marks Square

As it sounds like you are early starters, get to the Rialto Markets by the Rialto Bridge one morning.
Look at visiting some other major churches like Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari or San Giorgio Maggiore.
It sounds like you are not big on art but the Academy and Peggy Guggenheim are standouts.
Also, look at checking out one of the sumptuous palazzos on the Grand Canal - Ca d'Oro or Ca Rezzonico.
