Honeymoon in Sorrento & Capri: Boat Tour or Ferry?

Hello everyone!

My husband and I will be traveling to the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon in October 2026, and we would love some recommendations for boat tours.

We will be staying in Sorrento and will have one full day available to explore the Amalfi Coast. We are trying to decide between taking a boat tour from Sorrento (including Positano and Amalfi) or using the ferries to visit the towns independently. For those who have done this itinerary, what would you recommend? Are there any boat tour companies that you particularly enjoyed and would recommend?

We will also be staying in Capri and would love to arrange a romantic boat tour for two. Ideally, we are looking for a private tour to explore the island's coastline, caves, and most scenic spots. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable companies or memorable experiences that would be especially suitable for a honeymoon?

We would also appreciate any suggestions for must-do experiences for couples visiting the Amalfi Coast and Capri.

If you only have one day for the Amalfi Coast, I would take the ferry to Amalfi on your own, then head to Ravello and visit Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Both are gorgeous. From Amalfi to Ravello, you can take the bus, but time will be tight, so I'd look for a taxi or shuttle instead. After Ravello, head back to Amalfi or Positano and spend some time walking around if you have the chance before taking the ferry back to Sorrento. 

Taking the ferry on your own is better than a boat tour because the boat tour will not take you to Ravello. The ferry is better than going by bus or a minivan tour because the ferry ride gives you beautiful views of the coastline, which is one of the highlights of the trip. You'll also get great views of Positano and Amalfi as you arrive. From a bus or minivan, you'll likely be looking at some guy's head most of the time.

In Capri, the highlights for me were Giardini di Augusto and Villa San Michele. There are also a few walking paths that take you towards the water that have great views.

Much depends on the weather.

Which hotels will you be at in Sorrento and on Capri?

Usually the hotels have good advice on local boat trips/captains..why not write to them in advance and get the names of who they recommend....then you cn check reviews if you are hesitant.

How will you get to Sorrento?

I recommended this company for another couple who were honeymooning on Capri some years ago, and he wrote me back afterwards that they'd had a terrific private cruise. Do understand that high winds/rough seas can dictate where the boats can go or if it's safe to go out at all.
