Honeymoon in Italy

I am helping my 24 year old son plan his honeymoon trip to Italy October 9-22. How old do you have to be to rent a car in Italy? I know that in the states if you are less than 25 there are high surcharges. Is there a way for them to stay at an agriturismo in Tuscany without renting a car? Also, can anyone suggest a cooking class they can take while in Florence? An all day experience would be great! Thanks so much!

I'd contact a reputable firm with good contacts here in the US about car rental. Try http://www.gemut.com where you can actually talk to someone in the US and get advice. He'll also need an International Drivers' Permit (IDP), obtainable from AAA. There are agriturismos on bus lines. I have seen at least one outside Montalcino and another in Siena. Thsi is the one I saw outside of Montalcino http://www.leragnaie.com/index_eng.html. There's a bus stop right outside. You'll just have to search and see what the websites say. It's getting late for October reservations, so I'd make this a high priority. Can't help you with cooking classes, but I'm sure others have ideas.
