Hello!
We're planning to spend 3 nights on/near the Amalfi Coast in June 2022. Considering the crowds and travel logistics, does it make sense to make Sorrento our home base, or some other spot on the AC?

I spent four nights this past summer in Sorrento and loved it. It was a great base for the Amalfi Coast and Capri. I would suggest staying as close to the old town as possible. I stayed in a hotel east of the train station and ended up walking 10-15 minutes through generic modern Sorrento to get to the pretty part.

It depends on what you want to see in the area.
If Pompeii, Herculaneum, the Archeological Museum and Capri or Naples are on your list , your best bet is Sorrento.
If this is just a relaxing tour of the Amalfi Coast towns and many Paestum, I’d stay in one of the coast towns. Keep in mind the transportation hub of the coast is Amalfi town.
