We will be in Florence from May 1 through May 4; unfortunately May 1 is Labour Day and May 4 is a Monday. Any suggestions for what to do on these two days (especially the Holiday)? Thank you.
The Accademia Gallery, Palazzo Pitti and The Uffizi are all open on May 1. Visit some church on Monday or make a day trip.
Don't just visit one church, visit a bunch as you walk the streets, the best way to get the "feel" of any city
I am going to question the Uffizi and Accademia being open on May 1. In Dario's defense, their MAIN websites don't currently specify them being closed on that day but their official ticketing site, B-ticket, wouldn't allow a dummy booking for that date: it kicks me to May 2nd. That site also lists them as closed. This is where I'm drawing my info:

Anyway, the duomo and associated structures are open on May 1 and May 4th. Check the calendar for their individual visiting hours:

Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens are listed as open May 1 (see the b-ticket link above.)
Piazzalle Michelangelo is always open, and San Miniato - just above it - looks to be open both days as well from 9:30-13:00 and 15:00-19: 30.
