Hiring a Driver for the Amalfi Coast

We will be taking the train from Florence to Naples and then want to go to the Amalfi Coast. We have stayed in Positano in years past and only stayed in that one location.

We are trying to decide if we should rent a car and drive as we did before, or hire a driver. Any comments are welcome!

Driving, but more so, finding parking spots on the Amalfi Coast is an adventure in itself. Besides, you can explore the coast using the local bus service. If you don't plan on exploring some places less accessible, I would go for a driver to get you in Positano and then back to the airport at the end of your stay.

Thanks to everyone with their generous help. We decided to take the train to Naples and the Ferry to Capri. We stayed at the Hotel Orsa Maggiore in Ana Capri. It was a perfect place to be. Our room had a garden and a patio with a view of the sea. It was the best decision (not to tour the Amalfi Coast this trip). We stayed there for several days and it was the perfect unhurried end to busy days in Florence and Rome. I can't say enough about the service and the atmosphere of this lovely hotel and the town. The town is fabulous. They had a festival for the patron Saint of Ana Capri and painted a drawing of the church with flower petals and had a parade and local concert. The townspeople were so friendly and the entire visit was magical.
