We are 5 adults with bags, would hiring a car service for the above stated trips be best, Or, take train, bus etc?
Recommendations, insights appreciated. Thanks
I used Sicily Life when I needed to transfer between Catania and Taormina.
Excellent service, English speaking drivers. I was picked up in a van because my driver had a drop off at the airport with a large family. So they have those size vehicles.
He even pointed out some of the sites along the way.
We don't like to drive in other countries; for whatever reason it's a source of stress and somewhere along the way, in our late 50's, we discovered the joy and convenience of having a driver :) Since then, we almost always use a driver to get us from place to place. Yes, it's an indulgence but the time-savings is significant, and it takes ALL of the stress out of a task that we don't enjoy. We most recently used a travel advisor who set us up with a driver for a few cities in N. Italy. If it's of interest, her contact is Nadia Schwartz, 925-260-1287, [email protected]
I'm sure many on this forum will also have great suggestions for car service. Have fun!
We always hire Dario Cafiso when we need a driver from Catania to Taormina or to Ragusa or to Milazzo, the port for the Aeolians.
Look up his name at www.TOURBAROCCO.it:
Buses work well if you have carryon luggage and can walk easily. Train will not get you to Taormina because it is on top of a big hill. Sounds like some type of shuttle will work best for 5 people. We’ve always taken the bus between these places.
