My wife and I will be in Florence in 6 weeks. Since most of our trip will be centered in the cities (coming from Napoli for work), we are looking for a trip into the tuscan country, possibly for a guided hiking and winery tour coming from Florence. We are totally fine with something self-guided as well, relying on public transportation. Any information would be much appreciated.

Tours by Roberto does a fabulous job. They have some standard offerings and also will do customized stuff. Recommended by Mr. Steves, by the way. We did a tour of the Chianti region out of Siena, but they also do tours out of Firenze.
Last summer myself and another traveler did a Chianti Wine Tour with 'Fun in Tuscany'. They took us to a winery for tastings and a tour, then to the village of San Gimignano, then to another winery for dinner which included more tastings. It was really wonderful and highly recommended!
