Has anyone taken a hiking trip to the dolomites who could share where the best place to stay for taking moderate day hikes and has good transportation options? Planning a trip in July and there is so much information it is hard to sift through.
Thanks
Hi - jsut got back from a 1 week hiking tour of the Dolomite this summer. I went with ALPINEHIKERS.com - but they have great refugios (huts) or B&Bs in the towns below the mountains. I loved Ortesi/StUlrich. Its a great place with access to everything you need. The night up on top of the mountain in the "Schleren" was great (the Witch) mountain. Id recommend one nite up there. If you like a nice family run hotel - the Gronen (sp?) was amazing. Great food too - not the cheapest but well worth the money after a nice long day hiking! Plenty of affordable places in town.
