Hiking Sandals on Italy's trails?

I know this is a little vague, But my wife wants to know if Hiking Sandals are OK for the normal trails in Italy? Such as the "Fiumelatte Trail" in Varenna, the Trail around the hill town of Orvieto and the trails around The Isle of Capri? Thanks again Jim

I've done the La Rupe trail around the base of the cliffs of Orvieto. She'll probably be fine for that one. There are a few short stretches that are steep and gravelly, but other than that it's fairly easy.

Jim, From what I remember, hiking sandals should work for the trail around Orvieto. Not sure about Capri as I haven't hiked there (was too busy looking around the posh stores). Regarding the "Fiumelatte Trail" in Varenna, it travels up through the woods and is narrow in spots with "variable" footing. I normally just travel with street shoes and managed fine so if you take it slowly, Sandals may be fine. Happy travels!
