I'll be arriving on October 5th to Amalfi from the Windstar cruise. We are interested in hiking the Path of the Gods but from what I've read the trail can be confusing and logistics might be difficult with getting to/returning. We have limited time and have to make it make to the ship on time (same day)! We are fit so not concerned about he hike. Does anyone know of an inexpensive guide who could help us out with this?
An excellent book on hiking the trails is Sorrento-Amalfi-Capri by Julian Tippett. It details all of the hikes and gives you the distances/ times from point to point.

Where is your ship docking? How long do you have in port? This can make a big difference in if this is even possible. While the hike can take as little as 3 hours, the time it takes to get there and back to port may not fit your time allowance.
This group may be able to help.
We arrive at 9 am and depart at 4 pm. So with just the time of getting on and off the ship, we probably only have about 5 hrs. Perhaps not enough time to squeeze this in!
Is your ship docking in Amalfi? I assume that a Windstar cruise has less passengers than a mainline ship so I would think you could get off the ship much more efficiently. If you are not docking in Amalfi, I don't think the plan will work.
I was looking into this myself and found this blog post. Perhaps it would help you...
Yes the ship docks in Amalfi. So I got one reply from a guide who would charge $480 euro to transport us and guide us and get us returned in time. Sounds pretty pricey.
Well, it is about 30 minute bus ride from amalfi town to where hike starts. But of course you have to buy tickets and wait for next bus. Then 3 hours for hike. We waited about a half an hour for bus to take us to positano rather than going down tons of steps. Then it was maybe a half an hour until we caught ferry back to amalfi which was about 20 minutes.
I would not do this with only five hours.

That is crazy expensive for a guide. I’m used to being the minority opinion on this, but I will tell you that for all your efforts this hike is not worth it. Really. The trail itself is easy to follow, but getting back is difficult. If you’re hiking from Bomerano (sic) all the way to Nocelle, you’re still not at all close to Positano. That’s a long way back with a hard deadline. Hard deadlines and the Amalfi Coast don’t always cooperate. If you want stunning views and some excercise, I’d suggest taking the bus up to Ravello and hiking down from there to Atrani.
Everywhere along the coast you’ll find amazing views, you don’t need this hike to experience them.
I agree with the above poster that hard deadlines and the Amalfi Coast do not agree. I think it's probably too tight to try to pull off. At least, I would't feel comfortable trying to do it.
Awrzesinski has come up with the perfect choice for you. This is easily done in your time constraints. Take the bus to Ravello, (30 min) it's a beautiful town with fantastic views. Have lunch, then hike back to Amalfi via Atrani a very cute fishing village.
I did the bus to Ravello, saw the town a bit, and hiked back through Atrani also and enjoyed it very much. I agree it is preferable in a five hour time frame. Personally, I would not have enjoyed the Path of the Gods hike if we had a hard deadline.

Thank you all so much for your input. It was extremely helpful. I think I will skip this hike and do the other. So appreciate all the good advice!
