We will be staying in Sorrento for a few days in May, and are interested in doing some moderate hikes probably to the area west of Sorrento. I read somewhere that there are walking/hiking trails to Massa Lubrenze, for example. But I'd like to hear about anyone's experience, any suggestions of where to hike and what to see in that general area. Thanks.
The internet has everything these days and so many people seem to post everything about their lives on it. Hikes are no different. Google it and you will find some information and experiences. Go to youtube and just type Sorrento hiking and you will get access to a bunch of videos that folks have posted. This may give you some ideas and a view of their experiences.
I know you mean real hiking, but I want to mention the 99% paved walk down to Sorrento from Sant' Agata's center.
There are a lot of great hiking books, and I would recommend you get one for the area as it can be a bit confusing and access to and from the trailheads alone requires some assistance. I like the Cicerone Guides a great deal. Look for "Walking on the Amalfi Coast."
Thanks, everyone, for the great suggestions!
We were staying in Positano so we could do some hiking - we took the bus up to the village of Nocelle and followed the signs for Sentiero degli Dei.
We loved it - the views were amazing and we hiked for 5 hours as we wound our way down to the coast !
