Hiking in the Sabine Hills

We'll be spending two nights in Casperia. Any tips on hiking in the Sabine Hills area?

I don't know Casperia, but it is not far from Rieti, which is an interesting city; Castelducale is near Rieti. L'Aquila (northeast of Casperia) and the area around it has some great hiking. Will you have a car? L'Aquila is about 1.5 hours' drive from Casperia. There is a train from Contigliano to L'Aquila, but you would have to get to Contigliano somehow.
