hiking in the Dolomites: bugs?

For a trip to the Dolomites this Sept I'm wondering about the bug situation. Do I need to bring (or buy there) mosquito repellant or Permethrin to spray on clothes to keep ticks off? I know that in parts of the US bug spray is advisable, but I haven't been able to find anything online about the Dolomites.

I did not get bites while hiking. However, at my BnB, I was bitten by mosquitoes. I guess it does not hurt to bring a small amount of Picardin. The Dolomites is a rainy area.

Well, there could be mosquitos in marshy areas, and cows bring a kind of nasty flies. Usually repellant not really needed, but you should understand that any country place has an abundance of insects and small wildlife rarely seen in urban areas.
As for ticks - I have been spending, say, two August holidays weeks in those areas since I was two - either Dolomites or Austrian Tyrol. The only (likely) tick problem: my wife was once (15 years ago) stung by some insect, probably on a meadow overlooking Innsbruck, and her ankle began to swell to the point that a medical examination was necessary and antibiotics administered. But only once in 60 years. Wearing high socks could be a good idea.

We spent time in the Dolomites in September 2022 (12 days) and 2023 (6 days) and were not bothered by mosquitoes or other insects at any time.

In September 2016 I spent one week in Val Gardena and ten days in Val Badia, hiking every day (but not camping), and don't recall noticing any bugs at all.

We also were in Val Gardena for a week in late September with nothing seen. Is there a tick season. Where we are here at 8,500 ft in Colorado there are definitely ticks in early summer. But not much concern after June
