Hiking in the dolomites

Hiking in the dolomites. We are staying in Castelrotto without a car and would love to go to compass To begin a hike. I can’t find any public transportation that can get us there. Do you have any ideas? I really want to get into the mountains more

I think ‘autocorrect’ mangled your post - where did you intend to go?

Compatsch? If so, there's easy public transportation from Castelrotto, at least during high season. It's October now, so that may complicate matters. But check with the tourist information office.

Here is a transportation planner for the area https://www.suedtirolmobil.info/en/. Get the app for your phone, it’s better.
Basically you take a bus from the bus piazza in Castelrotto to the lift station Seiseralmbahn and the cable lift (big blue gondola cars) to Compatsch. Your lodging should give you a pass for the local buses. There are cable car passes, too, depending on your complete plan, ask at the cable car station or the TI in Castelrotto about options.

Although I’m on an RS tour and our bus driver took us up to Compatsch today, the local bus is still running. It was actually going all the way to to Compatsch as well with a drop in the bus zone up there.

Gorgeous day in the Dolomites today! Wow.
