Hiking in Murgia Materana - Suggestions?

We will be spending two days in Matera as part of our big trip to Italy. We plan to spend day 1 wandering around the town, and day 2 hiking in Murgia Materana Park. Regarding the hiking, I only have the information available on the park web site and a few tour web sites.

Has anyone hiked the trails in Murgia Materana? The reviews on line regarding the condition of the trails are inconsistent. I have checked, and the trail network is on Alltrails, so I do not think we will get lost, as long as Starlink internet actually works. We are in our 60's, so we are looking to hike 5 miles at most. It might be nice to have a guide, however the best looking guided hikes are offered by the park. I have not been able to determine whether they are offered in English If anyone has hiked these trails, I would appreciate your input regarding the general lay of the land, and the wisdom of hiking them without a guide.

Thank you for your help. We really appreciate it.

We used this company for our sassi tour and I noted that they also do hiking tours: https://www.materatourguide.it/

What kind of transport are you using? You can walk into the park from Matera, just over the bridge into the area where the cave churches are clustered. If distances are appropriate, you could likely walk on yourself, but if you have a car you could access the park headquarters and other areas, plus possibly inquire about other guides.
