hiking cinque terre trail between #1 and #2

Hello, can anyone tell me if it is possible to hike the trail between Riomaggiore and Manarola? I'm not the greatest hiker, but I would like to experience hiking in Cinque Terre. I will be there the first week of May. Your help is greatly appreciated.

sasha, Yes, absolutely! The trail you're referring to is the famous Via dell'Amore and AFAIK it's currently open and wasn't affected by the floods of Oct. 2011. The trail is mostly level and paved with stones, so it's more of a "stroll" than a hike. There are stairs at the Riomaggiore end from the station plaza to "trail level", but if you have mobility issues I believe an Elevator is available. Note that you'll require a Park Pass to hike any of the trails. You should be able to obtain that at the Riomaggiore station, but probably also at the small booth at the start of the trail. When you reach the Manarola end, you'll walk down a metal walkway to the station plaza, and then through a short tunnel to reach the town. Be sure to allow some extra time on the walk so that you can stop at the small Bar & Cafe that's located on the Via dell'Amore. It's always nice to stop for a coffee, a "cold one" or glass of Vino, and just enjoy the beautiful scenery of the incredible blue waters of the Ligurian Sea. Happy travels!

Ken's right. It's definitely a stroll, not a hike. It might even be wheelchair accessible.
