We have always stayed in a village on the Cinque Terre but now we are renting an apt. in Bogliasco--closer to Genova. Has anyone ever stayed here and if so we are interested in the hiking information. Anything you can share would be appreciated.

Information is hard to find at a distance, but there are lots of hiking options. The website A Path to Lunch wrote about the well-known Camogli to San Fruttuoso hike, taking the ferry back to Camogli. There is an energetic hiking group in Genoa that describes their hikes here: https://liguriah.wordpress.com They have several near Bogliasco.
