Hiking and Sightseeing in the Dolomites, rain

We will be in the Dolomites for about a week in mid September.(Ortisei, Bressanone, Cortina). I've looked at historical averages and have been following the weather for about a month, and like many mountainous areas they seem to get a fair amount of rain. I'm bringing a raincoat and umbrella. Trying to decide if I should bring my rain pants. If I do, it will likely not rain at all, which would be awesome. The rest of my trip should be fairly dry. There, the umbrella will likely be used for sun.

Does the Dolomite area tend to get all day rain or is it the typical mountain afternoon rain?

Thanks, miuccia, you are such a great resource for Italy. We are seeing Verona before we go to Bolzano and into the mountains. Unfortunately, my Dolomite reservations are not that flexible. Perhaps because innkeepers find that people cancel due to weather. We'd love for it to not rain, of course, but if it does, we'll make do. We can walk around some of the towns. Sounds like rainpants could be a good idea.

Is that your favorite weather app? I'll make note of it.
