The end of August we will be staying 1 night at Rifugio Col Gallina and the next night at Rifugio Nuvolau. We plan on exploring Cinque Torri on this day. I do not have a placed booked yet on the following night after Nuvolau. But, the day after I have Rifugio Vandelli booked.
Ideally, I would like to hike from Rifugio Nuvolau through Passo Giau to Croda da Lago to Rifugio d' Ajal but from what I can tell this would be about a 12 mile hike. Has anyone done this route? Is it doable in a day? Where would you stay if you needed to be at Rifugio Vandelli the following day? Is there a place to get public transportation into Cortina if needed or would we need to hike all the way into Cortina? I prefer to not back track.
Any suggestions?
