Hike down Seceda to Ortisei

Curious if anyone has hiked down from Seceda to Ortisei. I've read it is steep and trying to get an idea of how challenging it is. We are a pretty active and athletic family with moderate hiking experience. We plan to take the gondola one-way (up from Ortisei) to see the views - but would like to hike back down if nice and recommended.

That’s the one on the north side of Ortisei, yes? You should be fine. I did the hike to another ski lift that went down to Santa Cristina and then bused back to Ortisei, but that’s because I’m lazy. I don’t remember the hike, to that point anyway, being too difficult, especially if you’re a moderately active family. You could check out the huts and find places to get lunch or just a tea and rest a bit if you’re concerned. As I remember, the gondola has a point in the middle where you change cars. You could see if you can get in there if it turns out to be harder than I remember.

You can also take a funicular up the other side of the valley which I enjoyed much more. We spent more time hiking up there.
I had a problem on the gondola side, just looking out at how steep it was. And when we got up to more level terrain , I still had problems as I could see we were next to very steep terrain and felt like I’ was going to fall off the edges.

We have hiked from Seceda to Col Reiser and down to Santa Christina a few times. There are multiple routes all spectacular and totally doable for an athletic family. Stunningly beautiful. From Santa Christina the shuttle takes you back to Ortisei.
