Highchairs in Italy

Is it common for restaurants in Italy to have high chairs? We will be traveling with our 9-mo old and I have been debating about bringing a small portable high chair (this one for AirBNB or this one for restaurants). If sitting outside we might be able to sit him in the stroller? He’s eating solid food now so really want to avoid a situation where he is on my lap (good dieting strategy I guess…).

If any parents have been there recently let me know what your experience was! (We’ll be in Siena, Bologna, Florence, Venice). Thank you!

They will have high chairs (usually the ubiquitous white plastic IKEA one) but I would take the very small fabric option as a backup. There’s always a limited number available and you’ll be eating out a lot so it will just remove a potentially difficulty.

We traveled with a baby some years ago and most places had high chairs for her. Maybe really high-end places wouldn't, but everyday, normal restaurants usually had no problem and they were thrilled to see a little one—Italy has a low birth rate, so little ones are doted on. In that trip back then, the waiter scooped up our kid to show her off to the kitchen staff and she came back with treats in her hand.
