We just got home from Italy and we rented a car from Hertz from Chuisi with a drop off in La Spezia and they are charging us more than the contract stated. We also rented a car from La Spezia with drop off in Milan, and they charged us exactly what was stated. The Chuisi to La Spezia charged us a 40 Euro drop off, and a washing fee which we didn't ask for. They also charged us a higher rate than what was quoted, so they're basically charging us 100 Euros over what was stated. Is there anyway to fight this? Where do we even begin? Both rentals were Hertz.
Hertz in Rome is where their stores are managed in Italy. I believe they have a customer service department that can be reached by internet.
I don't know if the Hertz La Spezia location is a "company owned" store or a franchise. The locations in larger cities are believed to be company owned.
Last time I returned a Hertz car (picked up in Florence) at Orvieto, there were no drop off fees or car wash fees.
I would also file a dispute claim with your credit card company, if you have not already done so.
Thank you!
