Hertz in Spoleto

We will be returning our rental to Hertz in Spoleto then catching train to Rome.
Looks like a short walk to train station. Wondering if there a gas station nearby to refuel. Any tips on getting to Hertz- we'll be coming from Assisi.
Can anyone share experiences with the same- good or bad?

This was our experience from 2 years ago. We had arranged with Hertz to return our rental car in Spoleto on a Sunday. Unfortunately, no one told us the Spoleto Hertz office is closed on Sundays. We were lucky enough to find a very nice woman on the street in front of the office who helped us. She knew the Hertz manager and called him. He came and opened the office for us so we could return the car. We were charged a nominal fee which we didn't argue at that point. It is a short walk to the train station, so no problem there. I believe we stopped at a gas station off of the main highway before we got to Spoleto. It was convenient. Wish you all the best with your trip.

P.S. We thought our visit to Assisi was one of the highlights of our trip. Absolutely amazing!

Thanks Debra- that is helpful- we are returning on Tuesday and I have checked and rechecked the hours Hertz is open so I think we'll be ok in that respect. Good to know train station is walkable and gas should be easy to find before we return the car
! We are really looking forward to our time in Assisi.

Christine, I did the same thing in 2011, drove from Assisi and returned the car in Spoleto. I drove past the place at least 4 times before I found it. Nowadays people google this stuff and know exactly where to look, but the place is quite small. If you've come around the block and are driving toward the town of Spoleto up on the hill (the train station would be behind you), it will be on your left. It's only a couple of blocks to the train station from there. Really easy.

Good luck.
