We are in Sorrento ..does anyone have any info on these two places..are they close by..
This is not a mobile-centric newsboard where you are likely to get for-the-minute replies.
Both of these places are stops on the local rapid train transit (Circumvesuviana). You maybe intend to see "Oplontis", perhaps the number 3 ancient site in that area after Pompeii and Herculaneum. (I don't count Vesuvius, since it's a natural geological feature, not an ancient city. But it gets many more visits than does Oplontis.) The villa is also known as Villa Poppea, but it is not certain that Nero gave it to her or that she lived there.
I would not urge you to visit Oplontis unless you have been to at least one of Pompeii or Herculaneum. It is especially good for someone without the stamina or physical ability to visit Pompeii or Herculaneum. But we were happy we had the time to see Oplontis too.
If you download a list of the Circumvesuviana stops from Naples to Sorrento, you will find the various ancient sites are attached as subtitles to the correct train stops. For example, these PDFs:
http://www.eavcampania.it/web/sites/default/files/ftp_orari_ferroviario/Cx.pdf
http://www.eavcampania.it/web/sites/default/files/ftp_orari_ferroviario/Cy.pdf
In the PDF: Note that S and Scavi mean "excavation", or ancient site. a. and p. mean "arrival" and "departure" next to Oplontis. Herculaneum is a 15 minute walk downhill from the station, Oplontis is a 5 minute walk slightly downhill, and Pompeii is a 1 minute, level walk from Pompeii Scavi [villa Mysteri]. A three-day [consecutive!] ticket includes five ancient sites, including these three. Travel time is visible in the PDF.
You didn't ask, but the recommended on-site visit time for the two biggies is two to four hours at each one, and one to 1 1/2 hours at Oplontis. Some people gladly spend the entire day at Pompeii, by far the largest of the five sites on the three-day ticket. All can be hot and sun-bleached in summer.
If I were going to more than one in a day, I would buy an all-day ticket for the Circumvesuviana, instead of single-journey tickets. They are sold at the newstand to the right of the Sorrento station for the Circumvesuviana. They have to be stamped in the validation machine before use. The day-ticket only has to be validated once.
As you are in Europe, try to take advantage of local tourist offices or ask local advice at your hotel. In Sorrento, the main Tourist Information is inside the Foreigners' Club at Via Luigi de Maio 35 and several smaller info points have some of the same maps and brochures.
